A Disaster of Epic Proportions?
A few weekends ago- We went to visit the Jewkes in Price and took the boys to the Dinosaur Museum there at CEU. If you ask Tuck where we went he says "we went to the SEE-UM at CEU and saw big scary dinosaurs."
We thought for sure the boys would be in hog heaven at seeing all the big dinosaur bones- but turns out I've raised a couple of nancy boys...
They did kind of like the fish tank with turtles and fish ( as long as they didn't swim too close to the glass) but they were convinced that the Dinos were going to gobble them up.
The big teeth, claws, tails and bones scared the crap out of them- Tuck was at least game to look around and tell me how much he "didn't like the monsters" but Tate had a full on panic attack and spent most of the time on the floor or being held by various relatives. I guess we should have waited a while longer before subjecting them to the stuff of nightmares? We couldn't get too close to any of the statues and I had to keep reassuring them that these dinosaurs wouldn't eat them. Tucker was very worried about losing his fingers.
The huge mammoth skeleton spooked them both the most and they still talk about the "big scary elephant". (It kind of scared me too- That thing was HUGE!)
They did, however, LOVE the gift shop and we spoiled them shamelessly and tried to lessen the trauma with friendly looking plastic dinosaurs and other soft non threatening Dino toys. Thad (as usual) had a great time in the backpack squealing at everyone.
Now that we are home, the boys talk about the "SEE-UM" to everyone and act like it was a great adventure. We read our dinosaur books every night and they love to look through the photos of our ill-fated trip and I now can scientifically name a bunch of plastic dinosaurs when asked- so I guess it wasn't a total loss...

that is so funny. I think they look scary too. Guess they shouldn't watch Jurassic Park :)
How fuN! This is one thing on my list to take my kids this summer. Hopefully, they will have the opposite reaction.
Hollie- good effort. I would have thought it would be the perfect museum for little boys, too. So funny. You are such a great Mom- that's what they'll remember. Let's get together soon. It's been TOO long!
