"JUST ONE MORE PLEASE..."

BOOKWORMS

So- We love Uncle Todd at our house and he is a FABULOUS baby-sitter/entertainer (minus diaper changes). It has been so fun to have him living just down the road from us while he's been going to school.

The boys wait for "Unk-Todd" to come over each night and read to them. They make piles of books all day long- getting ready for their Story Time with Uncle. They plan and scheme and know how to milk it for all it's worth too. Todd hasn't yet figured out how to say NO to his nephews, so Story Time is about 2 hours long and they read just about every book we own... (about 3 times each)

I have to admit that I look forward to this 2 hour break every night just as much as the boys do-
I get to do a bit of my own reading in books WITHOUT pictures. Priceless.

The Cheese to My Macaroni- Dan+Hollie

The best word I can think of to describe our relationship is "Help Meet". Not a very romantic term, I know, but nothing suits us better. We meet in the middle and keep each other grounded. I'm a little crazy and he's a little sloppy, I'm super sensitive, and moody and Dan is perpetually cheerful and optimistic. When you're making a life together and raising a family, I think it's most important to have an equal partner and one whose strengths outweigh your own weaknesses. We have fun and share a lot of the same interests and I know that I can rely on Dan for comfort and strength when I am feeling weak or unhappy. Together we inspire and encourage and are doing our best to carve out a good and honest life. We love our children and now look forward to the challenges of expanding and raising our family.

Kids Say The Darndest Things!

* Tate was running around with his super-hero cape on the other day and was being so cute that I just wanted to give him a snuggle and a kiss. He wriggled away from me and said in a matter of fact tone, "Mom- Superheroes don't like kisses."

* So Tucker LOVES to try and trick us into letting him stay up past bed-time lately- but doesn't want to watch our late-nite programs and expects us to turn the T.V. onto Sprout T.V.or Nick Jr. for his enjoyment. So tonight he turns to me and says "Mom- I want to stay up with you but I don't think this program is appwopriate for me." Little monkey is getting too smart for his own good- (and mine)!

* The boys think the word SKUNK is hilarious or they think it must be a bad word- so whenever they want to be "naughty" and get away with something or make each other laugh, they say SKUNK! or say things like "You're being SKUNK right now"- or "Mama- I SKUNK you". I have NO idea where they got this- but it's better than using any other naughty words right?

* We're struggling with learning the correct tense for words and the concept of Tomorrow, Yesterday and Today- so Tuck came up with a perfect solution. Anytime he can't figure out what to say he says "Lasterday". As in - "No Mom! I told you I brushed my teeth lasterday!" Is this found in the dictionary?

* Tate was attacked with a sneezing fit earlier and I told Tuck to say "Bless Your Soul!" to Tate for good manners. Tuck replies- "No Mom- Tate doesn't have a soul- he has a sneeze in his nose! We need to bless his nose." Can't argue with that logic...

* Tate was prancing around the house on the balls of his feet and when I asked what he was doing he said - "Shhh Mom! Quiet! I'm tipping over on my toes!!" Apparently this is a no talking exercise.

* Driving around town today- Tuck looks out and sees the huge American flag flying at Home Depot and says "Look Mom!! That's the AMiracle Flag!!" Yes Dear- It IS a miracle flag.

*I was praising Tucker for sharing a toy with his brothers and I told him I was proud of him. "Yes Mama- You are proud of me," he says. I'm a good person!" Well yes you are!

* As I was eating my lunch today, Tucker kept asking for bites. When I finally agreed and gave him a taste, I asked him if he liked it. "Yes Mama- I Do!" he said- "I want to like it some more please." Clever way to ask for another taste...

* Tucker is becoming a world class tattle tale and loves trying to pit Dan and I against each other. Now if one of us tells him "NO" to something or gets after him for doing something naughty, he'll run to the other and sob saying "Mama (or Daddy) is breaking my heart- and tells me no." Devious little bugger....

* Tucker was giving me fits at Breakfast this morning and I kept asking him to take big monster bites of his toast- trying to make the hateful task of eating a little more fun- to which he finally replied, "No Mama- I don't eat monsters. They make me frow up." Well- Okay!

* Tuck is learning the art of sassing back now and it's so flipping funny. Whenever he tells me or Dan NO to something, I usually respond with "We don't tell our Mama No" or "It makes me sad when you say No to me" or something similar to that. Well, today Tuck was fighting to play with one of Tate's Birthday presents and I said No and that they were Tate's own special toys. "We don't tell Tucker No Mama- That not make me happy" he says. WHAT!?!

* Tucker woke up crying tonight with a stuffy nose and the beginnings of a head-cold. He needed to be soothed and loved back to sleep. I was rocking him and patting his back but everytime I thought he was calm and ready to go back to bed, he would whimper and say "Put your hands back on me Mama" - I'm not happy yet." Sweet little Baby.

* As we were celebrating Tates 2nd Birthday- Tucker couldn't stand that someone else was getting more attention than him and so everytime someone would wish Tatey a Happy Birthday- Tuck would shout "Happy Birthday to MEE!"- or ask "Where is MY Birthday?"

* Dan always tells Tucker to ask "Please-With Sugar On Top," when he really wants something like a toy truck or french fries and this really upsets Tuck. "No- Daddy. I not want sugar on my (insert item)!" He gets really worried that Dan is going to put sugar on his beloved truck or food. So Funny!

* Tucker and Tate love to watch Dan do his fabulous Yo-Yo tricks but neither one can pronounce the word- so they always ask to play with the "Whoa-Whoa" with Daddy. Priceless.

*After going to Church- We were talking about things we are all grateful for and I told Tucker that I was grateful for his beautiful curly hair. He said he loved his curly hair too and when I asked him who gave him his curls he said, "Mama gave me my curls" to which I replied "No, Heavenly Father did"! "I don't know Heavenly Father- I only know Mama"- He says. Hmmm- Sounds like we need some more in-depth Family Home Evening Lessons...

* We have a choice of fruit every morning for Breakfast along with our Oatmeal and Yogurt, and Tucker loves choosing which one he's going to eat each day. It's a close race between Mandarin Oranges, Bananas or Peaches but he can't quite pronounce Mandarin so he always asks to eat "Man Owanges". I love it!

* Tucker is struggling with using the correct tenses and can't quite get them right- We are working on it- but it is so hilarious when I ask him a question. For example- "Tuck- Are you ready for a nap?" "Yes Mama- I Are"- I hate to correct him cause it's so darn cute!

* Eating out at our favorite Mexican restaurant- Tucker decides that he wants only what is on my plate and takes a huge helping of my guacamole. He declares that he loves it and will eat nothing else the rest of the evening except "Mama's Green Squawkagamoldy." Does that count as a vegetable serving?

* I had foil in my hair- coloring it for the umpteenth time and Tucker wouldn't look at me or come near me- when I asked him why, he replied "Your shiny Hat scares me- Take it off Mama." He wouldn't have anything to do with me until I took the foil out of my hair!

* So I've recently introduced Tucker to Granola Bars at snack time and he loves them- but he can't say Granola so he calls them "Grandma Bars" as in "Mama- I want to eat a Grandma Bar"- Slightly Disturbing...

*Tucker hates the texture of hamburger and refuses to eat anything with meat mixed in- no matter how small it's been ground up- and now he tells me "No Mama-I can't like that." whenever I try to convince him to eat it.

* Tucker hates having a stuffy nose and can't say "snotty" so he always tells me he has a "Naughty Nose" when he needs me to get him a tissue.

* Whenever I've been gone for too long- at work or shopping- Tucker runs up to me and says "Hi Mom- You Missed Me!"

* We were sitting in a Cafe, waiting for our food when Tucker sighs loudly and says "I need a Coke." Way to start on the addictions early!?

* About 4 in the morning, I could hear Tucker giggling, so I went in to investigate- He sat straight up in bed and said brightly, "Hi Mom- I'm just hangin' out!"

*Tuck puts his hands on my cheeks and says "I love your face". I love your face too Baby.

*I must say this too much- but whenever Tate does something Tucker doesn't like he says "No Tate- That's not Acceptable" except it sounds like "that not cepable".

*When Tucker can't find me, he walks around the house yelling "Mom- I can't hear you!"

*Driving in the car one day- Tuck puts his hands over his face and says "Mama- I'm Sad. Why? I ask... "I need chicken nuggets," he replies.
